orthopedic massage
Orthopedic Medicine was developed in the mid 20th Century by Dr. James Cyriax in England. It was originally developed to “ correct the Child” (Ortho means “to correct”, Pedic means child). During this time, children were suffering from disease, such as Polio, that caused severe joint deformity and pain. This terrible disease prompted the research into the structural workings of the body. As Orthopedic Medicine was being developed, it was discovered that the techniques they developed for the children were also effective to address soft tissue trauma and injuries in the joints of otherwise healthy people. The orthopedic soft tissue mobilization technique softens and removes adhesive scar tissue from ligaments, tendons and other connective tissue. This correction creates a greater range of motion and reduction of pain and stiffness. The development of Orthopedic Medicine originated from this research by Dr. Cyriax, and is now the specialized branch of Medicine and Physical Therapy, currently practiced today. My Mentor, Dr. Ben Benjamin, PhD got his doctorate studying with Dr. Cyriax to develop Orthopedic massage techniques for all the joints, and not just the structures of the torso. These manual therapy techniques are applied precisely to structures that have accumulated adhesive scar tissue from trauma and injury. The technique skillfully breaks down the scar tissue so that normal tissue can form and heal in the ligament and tendon structures, facia and surrounding soft tissue. It works like Magic!

Thai yoga Stretch
Sometimes called yoga massage, this bodywork technique uses passive-assisted stretching, where I assist my clients to move into their stretch. Purposeful movements, stretches and acupressure provide a relaxing yet invigorating session of energy work and tissue rejuvenation.

Asian Body Modalities
Gua Sha and Cupping are ancient Taoist practices from over 3000 years ago. They are highly effective at breaking widespread adhesion and scar tissue that causes stiffness and pain. Gua Sha is a scraping technique done with a copper metal instrument, and cupping uses silicone cups to lift the fascial layers off each other. Gua Sha is compressive and cupping is decompressive to the tissues. They work in tandem to release pain and stiffness in the tissues.

Reiki Energy Work
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.

Cranial Sacral
Cranial sacral therapy (CST) is sometimes also referred to as craniosacral therapy. It’s a type of bodywork that relieves compression in the bones of the head, sacrum (a triangular bone in the lower back), and spinal column.
CST is noninvasive. It uses gentle pressure on the head, neck, and back to relieve the stress and pain caused by compression. It can, as a result, help to treat a number of conditions.
It’s thought that through the gentle manipulation of the bones in the skull, spine, and pelvis, the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the central nervous system can be normalized. This removes “blockages” from the normal flow, which enhances the body’s ability to heal.

Kinesio Taping
This Modality uses stretchy tape to support an injury and pull the fascial layers off each other to provide comfort and Mobility.
-
Vibration Modality/ Body Buff
This tool is like a car sander that vibrates the deep tissue and warms it up with friction. It is highly effective at releasing tightness in the tissues and allowing for deep muscle release. Feels amazing.
